Seoul has introduced the Climate Companion Card (기후동행카드), a monthly pass designed to encourage sustainable travel and reduce carbon emissions. For ₩65,000 per month, users can enjoy unlimited rides on:

Subways: All lines within Seoul, excluding certain extended or intercity sections.
Buses: All city buses, including local, circulator, and express buses.
Ttareungi(따릉이): Seoul’s public bike-sharing service, with an additional ₩3,000 fee.
This card is ideal for residents and visitors who rely on public transportation for daily commuting, errands, or leisure activities. It offers significant savings compared to traditional pay-as-you-go fares, which can add up quickly.
For example, a typical round-trip subway fare within Seoul costs around ₩3,000. Without a monthly pass, commuting five days a week would cost approximately ₩20,000 per week or ₩80,000 per month. With the Climate Companion Card, you can use public transit as much as you need without worrying about accumulating costs.
The card is available in both physical and mobile formats. You can purchase a physical card at subway station customer service centers or nearby convenience stores, and recharge it at ticket vending machines. The mobile version can be managed through the 'T-money' app, which allows for easy top-ups and usage tracking.
By adopting the Climate Companion Card, you not only save money but also contribute to Seoul’s efforts in reducing traffic congestion and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. It’s a simple yet effective way to make your daily commute more sustainable and affordable.
